Students with considerable work and life expertise can earn college credit for what they already know and can do. When students can take advantage of credit for prior learning (CPL) opportunities, data show that they are more likely to persist and complete postsecondary credentials. Institutions benefit as well. In this session, CAEL’s Becky Klein-Collins will discuss the value of CPL for students and the business case for colleges. She will also discuss strategies for building robust CPL programs or expanding current options -- even when internal resources may be limited.
